You publish content somewhere. A blog, a newsletter, a podcast, a changelog. Your subscribers see it. Then it sits silent while social media keeps moving. Connect that RSS feed to FeedMansion and your ghost writers turn each new item into social media drafts in your voice. You review, approve, and publish across every platform you've connected.
This guide works for any platform that publishes an RSS feed. You don't need a brand-specific integration.
What is an RSS feed?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a standard format that websites and platforms use to distribute new content automatically. When you publish a blog post, newsletter issue, or podcast episode, your platform adds it to the RSS feed. FeedMansion reads that feed and creates drafts for you.
Most publishing platforms include RSS feeds. Blogs, newsletters, podcasts, changelogs, publications. If you can publish content regularly, there's probably an RSS feed available.
Finding your RSS feed
Every platform handles RSS feeds differently. Here are common places to look.
Check the platform's documentation
Look for "RSS", "feed", or "syndication" in the platform's help documentation. Many platforms list their RSS feed URL in settings or export options.
Look for the RSS icon in your browser
Visit your published content in a browser. Look for the RSS icon in the address bar or page footer. Click it to see the feed URL.
Try common URL patterns
Many platforms use predictable RSS feed structures. Try these:
/rss/or/feed/appended to your site URL/rss.xmlor/feed.xml/podcast.xmlfor podcasts/atom.xmlfor some blogs
Verify the URL works
Paste the URL into a browser. You should see XML content with <item> or <entry> tags listing your recent content. If you see a normal webpage, the URL isn't an RSS feed.
Connecting an RSS feed to FeedMansion
Once you have your RSS feed URL, adding it to FeedMansion takes seconds.
Step 1: Open Manage
In FeedMansion, open Manage in the left sidebar.
Step 2: Add your RSS feed
Click Add Source and paste your RSS feed URL.
FeedMansion detects the feed type automatically and fetches your latest items.
You can manage all your sources later under Manage > Sources.
Step 3: Link to a ghost writer
After adding the feed, link it to a ghost writer if you want new items turned into drafts automatically.
You can link the same feed to multiple ghost writers. Each ghost writer uses different format templates, so you can maintain different styles for different platforms.
If you prefer a user-directed AI workflow, the same source is also available in Remix once your brand voice is set.
What gets imported
FeedMansion imports the following from RSS feeds:
- Title - the item's headline
- Content or description - the main text or summary
- Publication date - when it was published
- Author - who created it (if available)
- Link - URL back to the original content
- Images or media - enclosed content (if available)
Your ghost writers use this content to create platform-specific drafts. They never publish without your approval. You review every draft before it goes live.
What feed types work
- Blog RSS feeds - articles, essays, updates
- Newsletter RSS feeds - email newsletters with web archives
- Podcast RSS feeds - episodes with show notes and audio
- Changelog RSS feeds - product updates and release notes
- Publication feeds - multi-author blogs, news sites, magazines
If content publishes to an RSS feed, FeedMansion can use it.
What happens after new content appears
FeedMansion checks your RSS feeds automatically. You don't need to refresh manually.
When you publish new content:
- FeedMansion detects the new item in your RSS feed (usually within an hour)
- Your linked ghost writers read the content
- Each ghost writer creates platform-specific drafts in your voice
- You receive a notification that drafts are ready for review
- You review, edit if needed, approve or discard
- Approved posts publish at your scheduled time
The workflow is continuous. Every new item becomes drafts waiting for your review.
Need to sync immediately? Open the feed in Manage > Sources and click Refresh Feed.
Limits and caveats
Members-only or private content
RSS feeds only contain publicly available content. If your platform requires login or payment to access content, those items won't appear in the RSS feed. FeedMansion can't create drafts for private content.
Workaround: Publish a separate public teaser or announcement post. FeedMansion will pick that up and create drafts you can use to promote your private content.
Partial-content feeds
Some RSS feeds only include excerpts, not full content. Your ghost writers work with what's available. Excerpts can still generate effective drafts, but shorter summaries may limit draft quality.
What to do: Write clear, descriptive titles and excerpts. Good summaries help ghost writers create accurate drafts even without full content.
Feed update frequency
FeedMansion checks RSS feeds periodically. New items typically appear within an hour of publication. If you need immediate drafts, use Refresh Feed in Manage > Sources.
Image and media availability
RSS feeds include images and media in different ways. Some embed full images, others only include thumbnails or links. FeedMansion attaches available media to your drafts. If images don't appear, check whether your RSS feed actually includes them.
Authentication and protected feeds
FeedMansion can only access public RSS feeds. Feeds that require authentication (username/password, API keys, tokens) won't work. You'd need to make the feed publicly accessible or use a different integration method.
Best practices
Write social-friendly headlines
Your ghost writers work from your headlines. Clear, specific headlines create better drafts.
Good: "How we built a landing page that converted 3x better" Less clear: "Some thoughts on landing pages"
Use excerpts and summaries
Many platforms let you add excerpts or meta descriptions. These appear in RSS feeds and help ghost writers create accurate drafts.
Fill in excerpt fields when publishing content. Good summaries are specific and highlight what readers will learn.
Link strategically
FeedMansion includes your content URL in every draft. Readers can click through to read the full piece.
Consider what you want readers to do after seeing your social post:
- Read the full article? The default link works.
- Subscribe to your newsletter? Link to your subscribe page.
- Download a resource? Link directly to that in your content excerpt.
Plan your workflow
A simple workflow works best:
- Publish content on your platform
- Wait for ghost writers to generate drafts (within an hour)
- Review and approve posts on your phone or desktop
- Posts publish at your scheduled time
No context switching. Your publishing workflow stays in your platform. Your social posting happens in FeedMansion.
Troubleshooting
Feed not updating
If new content doesn't create drafts in FeedMansion:
- Verify the content is Published. Drafts and scheduled posts often don't appear in RSS feeds until they're live.
- Check the RSS feed URL. Paste it into a browser to confirm it's still valid and shows your latest content.
- Open the feed in Manage > Sources and click Refresh Feed.
- Wait for the next sync. FeedMansion checks feeds periodically. New items can take up to an hour to appear.
Wrong content appearing
If drafts don't match your published content:
- Open the feed in Manage > Sources to see what FeedMansion is importing.
- Check the RSS feed URL. You may have connected a different feed than intended (some platforms have multiple feeds).
- Some platforms take time to update RSS feeds after publishing. Wait a few minutes and refresh.
Feed URL not working
If FeedMansion can't fetch your feed:
- Test the URL in a browser. You should see XML content. If you see a normal webpage or error, the URL isn't an RSS feed.
- Check the URL format. RSS feeds often end in
.xml,.rss, or.atom. - Verify the feed is public. If you're logged in to view the feed in your browser, it may require authentication. FeedMansion can't access protected feeds.
- Some platforms require you to enable RSS in settings before the feed becomes available.
Ghost writer not creating drafts
If your feed is working but no drafts appear:
- Open Manage > Sources, select your feed, and confirm a ghost writer is connected.
- Open Auto-Drafts and check that the ghost writer status is active.
- Some ghost writers have filters or conditions that may prevent draft creation. Check your automation settings.
