Using FeedMansion with Your Mailchimp Newsletter

How to connect your Mailchimp newsletter to FeedMansion so new campaigns become social media drafts for review.

You send a newsletter in Mailchimp. Your subscribers read it. Then life gets busy. The content sits silent while social media keeps moving. Your ghost writers create drafts from your Mailchimp campaigns, ready for you to review and post.

This integration is especially useful for clubs, nonprofits, and small businesses that rely on Mailchimp for member and customer communication.

Privacy and feed access

Mailchimp's campaign archive RSS feed is publicly accessible. Anyone with the RSS feed URL can view your campaign content without logging in.

What appears in the public feed:

  • Campaign subject lines and preview text
  • Campaign content (HTML and text versions)
  • Send date and time
  • Links to view campaigns in a browser

Subscriber information: If your campaigns use merge tags like *|FNAME|*, these resolve to actual subscriber names when emails are sent. The resolved names appear in the public RSS feed. Consider whether this exposes personally identifiable information you want public.

If your newsletters contain sensitive content, review Mailchimp's campaign archive privacy settings before enabling the RSS feed. You may choose not to use this integration for confidential or internal communications.

Finding your Mailchimp campaign archive RSS feed

Mailchimp generates an RSS feed for your campaign archive. Here's how to find it.

Step 1: Open your Mailchimp audience settings

Log in to your Mailchimp account and select your audience. Click All Audiences if you have more than one, then choose the audience you want to connect.

Each audience has its own RSS feed. Connect the audience you send newsletters from.

Step 2: Find your campaign archive URL

Click Manage Audience next to your audience name, then click Settings.

In the settings sidebar, click Forms and response emails, then select Campaign archive page.

Look for the Campaign archive page URL field. Copy this URL.

Your campaign archive URL will look like this:

https://usX.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=XXXXXXXX&id=XXXXXXXX

The usX represents your data center server. The u and id parameters are unique to your account.

Step 3: Convert to RSS feed format

To get the RSS feed version, replace /home/ with /archive/rss/ in your URL:

https://usX.campaign-archive.com/archive/rss/?u=XXXXXXXX&id=XXXXXXXX

Paste this URL into a browser to verify it works. You should see XML with your recent campaigns.

If this URL format doesn't work, Mailchimp may have changed their RSS feed structure. Check their official documentation linked below for the most current information.

What if I don't see a campaign archive URL?

If your campaign archive is disabled, enable it first:

  1. In Forms and response emails, click Campaign archive page
  2. Make sure the archive is enabled for your audience
  3. Save your settings
  4. Copy the campaign archive URL that appears

What if no campaigns appear in my RSS feed?

If you paste the RSS URL into a browser and see no campaigns (or an empty feed), you may not have sent any campaigns to this audience yet. The RSS feed populates only after you send your first campaign.

Connecting Mailchimp to FeedMansion

Once you have your RSS feed URL, adding it to FeedMansion takes seconds.

  1. In FeedMansion, navigate to Manage > Sources > RSS Feeds
  2. Click Add Source
  3. Paste your Mailchimp RSS feed URL
  4. Click Add Source

FeedMansion detects the feed type automatically and fetches your latest campaigns.

After adding the feed, link it to a ghost writer if you want new newsletters turned into drafts automatically.

You can link the same feed to multiple ghost writers. Each ghost writer creates drafts in a different format, so you can maintain different styles for different platforms.

If you prefer a user-directed AI workflow, the same source is also available in Remix once your brand voice is set.

What content gets imported

Mailchimp's RSS feed includes these campaign types:

  • Regular campaigns - standard emails you send to your audience
  • RSS-driven campaigns - emails sent automatically when your blog updates
  • Plain text campaigns - emails without HTML formatting

Note: Test sends and internal drafts are not included. Only campaigns sent to your audience appear in the feed.

What feedmansion reads from each campaign

  • Campaign subject line and preview text
  • Campaign content (HTML and text versions)
  • Send date and time
  • Campaign URL for linking back

Your ghost writers use this content to create platform-specific posts. They never publish without your approval. You review every draft before it goes live.

Sync frequency

FeedMansion checks your RSS feed automatically. New campaigns appear in your drafts within an hour of sending.

Need to sync immediately? Open the feed in Manage > Sources > RSS Feeds and click Refresh Feed.

Important limitations

Campaign archive shows only 20 recent emails

Mailchimp's campaign archive RSS feed includes only your 20 most recent sent campaigns. Older campaigns drop off the feed as new ones are sent.

If you need to promote older content, consider resending it in Mailchimp or creating a new campaign.

Draft campaigns are not included

Only sent campaigns appear in the RSS feed. Drafts, scheduled campaigns, and test sends won't create drafts in FeedMansion.

Merge tags and personalization

Mailchimp's merge tags (like *|FNAME|*) resolve to actual names when emails are sent. The resolved names appear in your RSS feed. Your ghost writers see whatever text appears in the public archive.

If your campaign relies heavily on personalization, the draft may not capture the full context. Consider using preview text to summarize the key message.

RSS-to-Email is different

Mailchimp offers an RSS-to-Email feature that pulls content from external RSS feeds to create email campaigns. FeedMansion does the reverse. It pulls from your Mailchimp campaigns into social post drafts.

Best practices

Write subject lines that work on social media

Your ghost writers work from your subject lines. Clear, specific subject lines create better drafts.

Good: "How we increased donations by 40% with one email change" Less clear: "June newsletter"

Use preview text effectively

Mailchimp lets you add preview text to each campaign. This text appears in inboxes and your RSS feed. Your ghost writers use it to create accurate drafts.

Add preview text that summarizes your campaign's key message.

Plan your workflow

  1. Send your newsletter in Mailchimp
  2. Wait for ghost writers to generate drafts (within an hour)
  3. Review and approve drafts
  4. Approved drafts publish at your scheduled time

Your newsletter workflow stays in Mailchimp. Your social posting happens in FeedMansion.

Troubleshooting

Campaigns not appearing in FeedMansion

Check your RSS feed URL. Paste your RSS URL into a browser. You should see XML with your campaigns listed. If you see an error, the URL is wrong.

Verify the campaign is sent. Mailchimp RSS feeds only include sent campaigns. Drafts and scheduled campaigns won't appear until you send them.

Check you have sent campaigns. If this is a new audience or you've never sent a campaign, the RSS feed may be empty. Send your first campaign and wait for it to process.

Wait for the next sync. FeedMansion checks RSS feeds periodically. New campaigns may take up to an hour to appear.

Check your source is active. In FeedMansion, open Manage > Sources > RSS Feeds and confirm your Mailchimp feed shows as active.

Wrong content appearing

If drafts don't match your newsletter content:

  1. Open the feed in Manage > Sources > RSS Feeds to see what FeedMansion imported
  2. Check that the correct RSS feed URL is connected
  3. Ensure you're looking at the right Mailchimp audience (you may have multiple)

Feed URL not working

If the URL format above doesn't work, Mailchimp may have changed their RSS feed structure. Check their official documentation for the most current information.

Campaigns older than 20 not appearing

This is expected behavior. Mailchimp's RSS feed includes only the 20 most recent campaigns. Older campaigns are not accessible via RSS.
