Connect a Calendar to FeedMansion

Connect your calendar to FeedMansion. Every event becomes social media drafts in your voice, ready for review.

You run events, workshops, classes, or a calendar full of activities. Your audience needs to know. Connect your calendar to FeedMansion and your ghost writers turn each event into social media drafts in your voice. You review, approve, and publish across every platform you've connected.

What calendar URLs work with FeedMansion

FeedMansion accepts public iCalendar URLs (.ics files). Most calendar tools can generate these.

Supported sources:

  • Google Calendar
  • Apple Calendar (iCloud)
  • Outlook / Microsoft 365
  • Calendly
  • Any calendar app that exports iCalendar format

Your calendar URL must be public. Private calendars that require a login won't work.

Privacy note: When you make your calendar public, anyone with the URL can see your event details (titles, descriptions, locations, times). FeedMansion reads this public calendar data to create social media drafts, but nothing publishes without your approval. You review and edit every draft before it goes live.

Finding your calendar URL

  2. Find your calendar in the left sidebar
  3. Click the three dots next to the calendar name

  6. Copy the Public address in iCS format URL

Your URL will look like:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/XXXX/basic.ics

Apple Calendar (iCloud)

  1. Go to iCloud.com and sign in
  2. Open Calendar
  3. Click the share icon (radio wave symbol) next to your calendar

If your scheduling tool doesn't provide a calendar feed, connect the Google Calendar or Outlook account that receives booking notifications instead.

Connecting your calendar to FeedMansion

Once you have your calendar URL, adding it to FeedMansion takes seconds.

Step 1: Open Manage

In FeedMansion, open Manage in the left sidebar.

Step 2: Add your calendar

Click Add Source and select the Calendar tab. Paste your calendar URL:

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/XXXX/basic.ics

FeedMansion validates the URL and fetches your events. You can manage all your sources later under Manage > Sources.

Before connecting: Review your calendar for sensitive information you don't want imported. Personal events, home addresses, or private meeting details will appear in FeedMansion as drafts. You can discard any draft you don't want to use.

After adding the calendar, link it to a ghost writer if you want new events turned into drafts automatically.

You can link the same calendar to multiple ghost writers. Each ghost writer uses a different format template, so you can maintain different formats for different platforms.

If you prefer a user-directed AI workflow, the same source is also available in Remix once your brand voice is set.

What event details FeedMansion reads

FeedMansion imports the following from your calendar:

  • Event title - used in draft headlines
  • Event description - used in draft content when available
  • Start and end time - for scheduling posts
  • Location - included in posts when relevant
  • Timezone - converted to your local timezone

Your ghost writers use this content to create platform-specific posts. They never publish without your approval. You review every draft before it goes live.

Past events

FeedMansion only creates drafts for upcoming events. Past events in your calendar won't generate drafts. This keeps your review queue focused on events you can still promote.

Events with minimal information

Your calendar might have events with just a title and no description or location. FeedMansion will still create drafts for these. Your ghost writers work with whatever information is available.

For the best results, add event descriptions and location details when you create events in your calendar.

Where drafts appear after events are ingested

Drafts from calendar events appear in your Review queue. You'll find them alongside drafts from other sources (RSS feeds, email inboxes, and Remix drafts).

Each draft shows its source:

  • From Calendar label indicates it came from your connected calendar
  • Event title and date are visible for context

You can edit, approve, or discard these drafts just like any other. Approved posts publish at your scheduled time.

FeedMansion checks your calendar automatically. New events appear in your drafts within an hour of changes in your calendar. Need to sync immediately? Open the calendar in Manage > Sources and click Refresh Calendar.

Troubleshooting

Private calendar URLs

Problem: FeedMansion can't access your calendar.

Solution: Make sure your calendar is public. In Google Calendar, enable "Make available to public" in the share settings. Paste the URL into a browser. You should see the iCalendar file content, not a login page.

Invalid ICS URLs

Problem: The URL doesn't end in .ics or returns an error.

Solution: Paste the URL into a browser. You should see calendar data in iCalendar format (text that starts with BEGIN:VCALENDAR). If you see a webpage or an error, the URL is wrong.

Make sure you copied the Public address in iCS format, not the regular calendar address. Check that the URL ends in .ics and verify the calendar is set to public sharing.

Timezone confusion

Problem: Events show up at the wrong time.

Solution: FeedMansion reads the timezone from your calendar file. Make sure your calendar has the correct timezone set in its settings.

Google Calendar: Settings > Settings for my calendars Outlook: File > Options > Calendar > Time zones

No events appearing

Problem: You connected your calendar but no drafts appeared.

Solution: Check that your calendar has upcoming events. Past events don't generate drafts. Open the calendar in Manage > Sources to see when it was last fetched, and click Refresh Calendar to trigger an immediate sync. Verify the calendar URL is still valid by pasting it in a browser.

Wrong events appearing

Problem: Drafts don't match your calendar events.

Solution: Open the calendar in Manage > Sources to see what FeedMansion imported. Check that the correct calendar URL is connected. Some tools separate personal and work calendars, so ensure you connected the right one.

Best practices

Your ghost writers work from your event titles and descriptions. Clear, specific information creates better drafts.

Good: "Introduction to Watercolor Painting: Beginner Workshop" Less clear: "Workshop"

Fill in the event description with what attendees will learn, who should attend, and any requirements (materials, prerequisites). Include location for in-person events.
